Heavy Duty Diesel Mechanic

Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Diesel Mechanic to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of heavy-duty diesel-powered equipment and vehicles. Your expertise will ensure optimal performance, safety, and reliability of machinery used across various industries, including construction, agriculture, and transportation. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with diverse equipment and showcase your mechanical prowess in a fast-paced environment. Candidate is not required to have their own tools. We have tools on site. Lunch is provided. Schedule is Monday - Friday 730 - 5, with opportunity for more. Pay is based on experience and not limited to range listed.

Duties

• Perform comprehensive diagnostics on diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, suspension systems, and electrical components using schematics and automotive diagnostics tools.
• Conduct repairs and maintenance on heavy equipment such as excavators, forklifts, tractors, farm machinery, industrial equipment, and vehicle fleets including tractor-trailers and wreckers.
• Fabricate and modify parts or components as needed using welding, soldering, hand tools, power tools, and fabrication techniques to meet specific operational requirements.
• Service and repair essential systems including air brakes, shocks & struts, HVAC systems, tire services, and brake systems to ensure safety compliance.
• Utilize schematics to troubleshoot electrical issues and perform electrical repairs; interpret technical manuals for precise repairs.
• Perform preventative maintenance tasks such as oil changes, filter replacements, fluid checks, and system inspections to extend equipment lifespan.
• Assist with heavy lifting operations safely using appropriate equipment; support assembly or disassembly of machinery during repairs or upgrades.

Skills

• Proven experience working as a Diesel Mechanic in dealership or industrial settings with strong mechanical knowledge.
• Expertise in diesel engine repair along with familiarity with Caterpillar equipment and other heavy machinery brands.
• Skilled in fabrication techniques including welding and soldering; capable of customizing parts or repairing damaged components.
• Proficient in reading schematics and technical manuals for troubleshooting complex electrical and hydraulic systems.
• Strong knowledge of semi maintenance procedures including transmissions, air brakes, alignment adjustments, shocks & struts repairs.
• Ability to use a variety of hand tools and power tools efficiently; comfortable performing heavy lifting when necessary. We have tools on site, you do not have to have your own.
