Job Description 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be  assigned. 

• Performs routine maintenance inspections at various U.S. military locations in the  continental United States by anticipating, planning and acting on different  contingency plans in the efficient maintenance of fuel facilities.  

• Maintains fuel distribution system, to include storage tanks and transfer of fuel as  appropriate to secure safe and efficient operations to include inspection reports  of the operations for unusual circumstances to include: pressure changes, leaks,  unauthorized personnel, etc. 

• Maintain good working relationship with co-workers and military management  personnel utilizing good judgment in recognizing scope of authority. Investigate  and adjust customer complaints and concerns regarding fuel systems  maintenance. 

• Diagnose and correct problems using test equipment, statistical, equipment  history, manufactures specifications and industry related standards to avoid fuel  spills or fuel facility related events. 

• Troubleshoot, repair and maintain Class I, II and III hydrant systems. • Maintains knowledge of Military Standards, UFC, EM-385, OSHA, EPA and other  industry standards. 

• Follow company and departmental safety policies and procedures and react to  safety incidents should the need arise. 

• Maintain records relating to maintenance. 

• Perform other duties as assigned. 

• Is able to meet the Station’s attendance standards.

Qualifications

Within six (6) months, become oriented to all areas imperative to the function of the  various equipment, i.e., storage tanks, valves, control valves, fuel pits, emergency shut  offs, military procedures for maintaining the fuel system equipment, etc. 

Education and/or Experience 

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months  related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and  experience. 

Previous Air Force Liquid Fuel Maintenance experience preferred. 

Language Skills 

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and  maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, blueprints, hydraulic and pneumatic.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively.  

Mathematical Skills 

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, loss/gains, inventories,  inches/feet to gallons/barrels conversions, proportions, percentages, areas, weights,  lengths, diameters, radius, circumferences, flow rates, pressures, voltage, amperes,  watts, resistance and volumes in standard and volumes in standard and metric. 

Reasoning Ability 

Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in  written, oral, or diagram from. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete  variables in standards situations. Maintain maintenance objectives to maximize  reliability and minimize costs.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations 

Possess/maintain a valid State driver’s license and Common Access Card (CAC) within  sixty (60) days of hire. 

OSHA 30 Certification required within sixty (60) days of hire. 

CPR/First Aid Certification required within sixty (60) days of hire.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand,  walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with arms,  climb or balance; and talk or hear. 

The individual must also be able to open and close large value on 16" product delivery  pipelines quickly. Opening and closing these values involves twisting and pulling  motion and sometimes considerable physical exertion. 

Other tasks include digging and shoveling. Employee may also engage in debris  removal which involves lifting, bending and stooping. The employee must frequently  lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may regularly work in outside  weather conditions. The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts,  high voltages and high hydraulic/pneumatic pressures. The employee is also  frequently exposed to very loud noise levels, fumes or airborne particles and  hazardous substances, materials or waste. The employee occasionally works in high,  precarious places.

Travel Required
