Heavy Equipment Mechanic

Location: Cleveland, OH 44110

Job Type: Full-Time | On-Site


Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Mechanic to perform preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on intermodal heavy equipment in a fast-paced outdoor environment. This is a hands-on role requiring strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to work safely and independently.


What You’ll Do

  • Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on heavy equipment including forklifts, man lifts, and related machinery
  • Diagnose and repair electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems
  • Read and interpret electrical and hydraulic schematics
  • Conduct detailed inspections in accordance with OEM specifications
  • Troubleshoot system and component failures efficiently
  • Respond to equipment-related service requests
  • Maintain accurate maintenance and repair records
  • Ensure full compliance with safety, health, and environmental policies
  • Assist with training team members as needed
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders
  • Support special projects and cross-train in other departments as required


What You’ll Need

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean motor vehicle record
  • 5+ years of experience maintaining and repairing heavy equipment
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to read electrical and hydraulic schematics
  • Basic computer skills
  • Own basic hand tools
  • Comfortable working at elevated heights
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Comfortable working around loud machinery
  • Willingness to work after-hours call-outs
  • Basic knowledge of SPC fundamentals
  • Ability to recognize all colors within a normal spectrum
  • Ability to understand and follow railroad and company safety policies

  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic abilities
