Job Title: Nursing Manager – Emergency & Acute Care
Location: Alaska
Shift: Full-Time, Day Shift

Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Nursing Manager to oversee operations within our Emergency Room and Acute Medical departments. This leadership role is vital to ensuring high-quality patient care, staff development, and operational excellence across trauma and emergency services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage daily workflow, staffing, orientation, and training of ER and Acute Care teams
  • Serve as hospital liaison with EMS and trauma referral centers
  • Lead multidisciplinary trauma care coordination and performance improvement initiatives
  • Facilitate staff meetings and participate in hospital committees
  • Monitor patient volumes, staff performance, and customer satisfaction metrics
  • Maintain departmental dashboards and contribute to budget planning
  • Investigate and resolve patient, physician, and staff concerns
  • Conduct performance evaluations and implement corrective action plans
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards
  • Provide direct patient care as needed to support staffing requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) required or enrolled in a BSN program to be completed within 2 years
  • Current unrestricted RN license in Alaska or another U.S. state (Alaska license required before start date)
  • BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC certifications required
  • CEN certification required within 2 years of hire
  • Clinical competency required within 3 months of hire

Experience:

  • 2–3 years of management or supervisory experience preferred
  • 3 years of ER experience in a similarly-sized hospital preferred

  • Strong leadership, strategic planning, and mentoring skills
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal communication
  • Ability to manage complex situations and multiple priorities
  • Proficient in conflict resolution and maintaining confidentiality
  • Effective verbal and written communication
