Job Summary
The Facilities Maintenance Technician supports the upkeep and functionality of City facilities. This role performs a variety of maintenance and repair tasks across multiple trades, ensuring safe, clean, and operational environments for city departments. The position requires both independent work and collaboration with a maintenance team, along with sound judgment in preventive maintenance decisions.
- Hourly Rate: $18.72/hour
- Employment Type: Temporary (Full-Time, 40 hours/week)
- Duration: Estimated 4–6 months (subject to change; potential for extension based on operational needs)
Key Responsibilities
- Perform minor repairs and maintenance across electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, glass, masonry, and office furniture
- Complete facility setup and breakdown for meetings and city events
- Conduct routine maintenance and general cleaning of city facilities
- Maintain preventive maintenance schedules and recommend necessary actions
- Track inventory, order supplies, and manage equipment stock levels
- Operate power and non-power tools safely and effectively
- Maintain basic records and reports related to maintenance activities
- Follow safety protocols and participate in on-the-job training programs
- Perform physically demanding tasks, including heavy lifting
Required Experience
- 1+ year of experience in facilities maintenance, building maintenance, or a related field
- Experience working with multiple maintenance trades (e.g., electrical, plumbing, carpentry)
Required Skills
- Proficiency in multi-trade maintenance (electrical, plumbing, carpentry)
- Ability to safely operate power tools and maintenance equipment
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or in a team
Additional Requirements
- Valid Texas Driver’s License
- Ability to perform heavy lifting and physically demanding work
- Availability to work full-time (40 hours per week)
