We are expanding our team across our Shelter Island businesses — our boutique hotel and Restaurants as well as our historic drug store and Soda Fountain. We are seeking reliable, friendly, and experienced individuals who take pride in exceptional service and community‐focused work.
Overview
We are currently seeking enthusiastic and customer-focused individuals to join our team as Guest Service Agents, Restaurant Staff at our hotel and Retail Cashier/Stock Associates at our drug store location. These roles are ideal for candidates passionate about hospitality and retail, with a strong commitment to providing exceptional guest and customer experiences. All positions offer opportunities for professional growth within dynamic environments, emphasizing teamwork, hospitality management, and guest relations. Bilingual skills and hotel experience are highly valued to enhance guest interactions and operational efficiency.
Duties
- Welcome guests warmly upon arrival, ensuring a positive first impression
- Manage check-in and check-out processes efficiently using multi-line phone systems and front desk software
- Handle guest inquiries, reservations, and requests with professionalism and courtesy
- Maintain accurate records of guest information and transactions
- Assist guests with concierge services, including providing local information and amenities details
- Ensure the cleanliness and organization of the front desk area
- Process retail transactions accurately at the drug store cashier station, including handling cash, credit cards, and other payment methods
- Stock shelves, organize merchandise, and assist customers with product inquiries in the retail environment
- Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for all guests and customers
- Support night audit procedures (if applicable) for hotel operations during overnight shifts
- Work collaboratively with servers, hosts, bartenders, and kitchen staff
- Follow all health, safety, and sanitation standards
- Assist with opening and closing duties as assigned
Experience
- Previous experience in hospitality or hotels are preferred
- Strong customer service skills with a focus on guest relations and guest services excellence
- Bilingual abilities (English/Spanish or other languages) are highly desirable to serve diverse clientele effectively
- Experience working with multi-line phone systems and phone etiquette is advantageous
- Prior retail cashier or stock associate experience is a plus for our retail roles but not mandatory; willingness to learn is essential
- Knowledge of resort or hotel operations will be beneficial for hotel roles
- Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in fast-paced environments while maintaining professionalism
- Prior restaurant or hospitality experience preferred, but willing to train the right candidate
- Be dependable, punctual, and comfortable in a fast‐paced environment
