Position Summary
The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) plays a vital role in both the clinical and administrative operations of our practice. Working under the direction of our licensed healthcare providers, you will ensure a seamless patient experience by preparing clinical environments, assisting with procedures, and managing front-office flow.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Excellence
- Patient Intake: Prepare patients for examinations by recording vital signs, updating medical histories, and reconciling medications within the EMR.
- Provider Support: Assist physicians during exams, diagnostic testing, and minor surgical procedures.
- Clinical Tasks: Administer injections as ordered, perform PMP reporting, and manage physician-authorized medication refills.
- Safety & Sanitation: Maintain strict adherence to Universal Health Precautions and ensure the proper sterilization of medical equipment and exam rooms.
Administrative Operations
- Patient Coordination: Efficiently manage the check-in/check-out process, including verifying insurance benefits, updating demographic data, and collecting co-pays or deductibles.
- Front Office Support: Assist with high-volume phone inquiries, appointment scheduling, and patient medical records management.
- Compliance: Maintain strict confidentiality and ensure all actions align with HIPAA rules and regulations.
Qualifications
- Experience: Previous experience as a Medical Assistant. Experience in a surgical specialty or bariatrics is highly preferred.
- Certification: Valid certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA/RMA). Current CPR certification is preferred
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems; experience with eClinicalWorks is a significant plus.
- Soft Skills: Exceptional communication skills and a "patient-first" mentality. You should be highly organized, motivated, and able to remain calm and detailed under pressure.
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent; some college-level coursework preferred.
- Travel: Ability to travel between practice locations as necessitated by business needs.
