Job Description
- The technician must be knowledgeable about common sleep disorders and treatment options such a PAP therapy for OSA.
- Willing to learn new procedures utilized by the facility that enhances the sleep testing process.
- Perform day/overnight polysomnograms, MSLT, CPAP, and oxygen titration in accordance with company protocol.
- Data tabulation and interpretation: Score sleep/wake and clinical events in accordance with AASM scoring guidelines.
- Independently troubleshoot minor problems or adjustments throughout the study to ensure an accurate and readable recording.
- Collect and/or review pertinent medical history and medications to perform the appropriate study requested by a clinician.
- Assist with assigned projects to improve department processes, testing, and quality.
- Performs all functions according to established policies, procedures, regulatory and accreditation requirements, as well as professional standards.
- Comply with applicable laws, regulations, guidelines, and standards regarding safety and infection control issues.
Requirements
- Must be Registered in Polysomnographic Technology with the BRPT or equivalent.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Must be proficient in the use and theory of all equipment related to sleep testing.
- Must demonstrate critical thinking skills, problem-solving abilities, and effective communication skills.
Experience
At least 18 months of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
