Resident Assistant / PCA

Resident Assistants provide hands‐on, essential care that supports residents with daily living and helps licensed nurses maintain safety and health standards. Their responsibilities span personal care, mobility, monitoring, and emotional support.

•             Bathing, showering, and grooming residents

•             Assisting with dressing and hygiene

•             Helping residents use the bathroom or providing toileting assistance

•             Changing bedding and maintaining cleanliness

•             Supporting residents with eating and hydration

•             Turning, repositioning, and transferring residents between bed, wheelchair, or chair

•             Assisting with ambulation and fall‐prevention routines

•             Helping with physical therapy exercises as directed

•             Measuring and recording vital signs (blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respirations)

•             Observing and reporting changes in condition, behavior, or mood to nursing staff

•             Collecting specimens (urine, stool) when needed

•             Serving meals and assisting with feeding

•             Ensuring dietary needs and restrictions are followed

•             Assisting with medication reminders or administration only when delegated by a nurse

•             Keeping resident rooms tidy and safe

•             Maintaining clean equipment and care areas

•             Supporting infection‐control practices

•             Providing companionship and reassurance

•             Communicating respectfully and compassionately

•             Reporting pain, skin changes, or safety concerns immediately

Taking residents for outings  and shopping.
