Job Description
Medical Office Assistant under the supervision of a Physician, Clinical Supervisor and the Practice Manager is responsible for assisting in the delivery of health care and patient care management including but not limited to physicals, vaccinations, ekg, spirometry, acute care, newborn care, triage phone calls and assist with daily acute care appointments and entering data into the electronic medical record system to ensure we offer the highest quality of care. We are completely electronic with all of our medical records so strong technology experience is important. We also take pride in being a Level III Certified Patient Centered Medical Home, meeting Meaningful Use requirements since 2011 and participating in many patient centered quality programs.
We are a small health care practice where each patient is known to us personally. Having physicians who are trained and Board Certified in both Internal Medicine and Pediatrics, we are specialists for patients of all ages. Our goal is to provide our patients with the most up to date and personal care available.
Requirements:
•Must have a minimum 2 year experience with both pediatric and adult patients in a medical office as a physician clinical assistant
•Has experience and adequate knowledge of basic medical assistant theory and practice
•Has experience and adequate knowledge of basic laboratory, clerical, and treatment room procedures
•Has skill in administering variety of treatments and medications as directed
•Calls lab and test results to patient as requested by the provider, and schedules any follow-up as directed
•Performs EKG's, PFTs, and pulse oximetry accurately
•Administers nebulizers and oxygen to patients as directed
•Escorts patients to exam room, records vital signs in e-MDs promptly, and assists the provider with exams
•Inputs demographics and supportive diagnosis data for lab orders accurately and efficiently
•Administers immunizations, therapeutic injections, skin tests and treatments in accordance with office standards
•Completes a nurse visit for all immunization visits and accurately codes to ensure vaccine reimbursement
•Enters vaccine data in e-MDs and updates NCIR with immunization details
•Performs phlebotomy and prepares specimens for lab pickup
•Maintains the exam rooms, lab, and sample closed, keeping them stocked, neat and organized.
•Serves as a liaison between drug reps and physician
•Schedules referrals accurately and clearly provides information to the referral site and the patient
•Provides instructions to the patient and/or family regarding medications and treatment as directed by provider.
•Triages patient calls for all providers, thoroughly documents all conversations in patients' chart
•Completes prior authorization for prescriptions, imaging, and consults as needed
•Accepts additional duties assigned as needed by the Clinical Supervisor, Practice Manager or Physicians
