GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES FOR ALL CNAs/RPs:

1.             Assist in dressing and undressing residents as they require help.  Make sure they change into night clothes before bed.  Please make sure their clothes and appearance are neat whenever possible.

2.             Shower residents who need assistance according to shower schedule and those who have accidents during your shift.  If a resident adamantly refuses to shower, please document this and notify the Administrator or Nurse.

3.             Help keep residents’ rooms clean and orderly at all times.  Remove improperly stored food items from rooms.  Medicine is not to be kept in resident rooms unless they have an order to self-administer these medications.

4.             Bed linen is changed weekly by housekeeping.  Soiled beds are to be changed when they happen.

5.             Residents are to be treated with the utmost respect AT ALL TIMES.  (even when they are being difficult)  Verbal or physical abuse will not be tolerated.  Loud, foul or obnoxious voices will not be tolerated.

6.             Administer medications and document these on the medication sheet.  PRN meds are to be documented when given.  Medication deliveries are to be documented, highlighted and put away in the medication cabinet.

7.             Report all significant changes to the Nurse/Administrator

8.             Be familiar with the resident’s history and needs.  Review their records and treatment plans.  All information is to be kept confidential according to HIPPA regulations.

9.             If a resident needs immediate attention, please follow procedure in the policy book.

10.         Keep track of residents at all times.  Utilize check list from 8pm until 8am. 

11.         All employees are to keep the administrator aware of any change in their address, phone number, tax information or physical status

12.         Shift report is to be done with the on-coming staff member, please inform him/her of any changes in a resident’s condition or medication orders.  Narcotics MUST be counted by both off going and oncoming staff.  Report book is to be completed each shift

13.         Any incontinent residents are to be kept clean and dry at all times.  Toilet those who tend to have accidents.  Any accident happening in the bathroom will need your attention.  It is your responsibility to clean these up when they occur

14.         Resident laundry is to be done and put away as scheduled

15.         Weights and Blood Pressures as scheduled

16.         Comply with all hygiene and sanitizing policies per DPH regulations
