Production Supervisor

GDC and Sigan America are seeking an experienced Production Supervisor to lead our re-work area. We are seeking a detail-oriented leader who will focus on process, creating efficiency and managing workflow for our teams.

Job Summary: The Production Supervisor will lead a team of 15 to 30 personnel across 5 work groups to execute secondary packaging operations, including labeling, kitting, bagging, and rework. This role is responsible for the end-to-end production lifecycle—from initial planning and scheduling to final quality assurance and inventory reconciliation. The ideal candidate is a "player-coach" who thrives in a fast-paced environment and uses Lean methodologies (Gemba, 5S) to drive continuous improvement.

Core Responsibilities

1. Production Planning & Execution

·       Scheduling: Work with internal Planning department to translate demand into daily work orders (WOs)/schedule; assign tasks to work groups based on skill set and priority.

·       ERP Management: Perform real-time WO posting in the ERP system; ensure labor hours and materials are accurately backflushed or consumed.

·       Execution: Oversee all secondary packaging steps (labeling/re-labeling, boxing, bagging, coding, and kitting).

2. Quality & Continuous Improvement

·       Gemba Walks: Conduct daily floor walks to verify quality, identify bottlenecks, safety hazards, and process deviations.

·       Quality Control: Perform and document hourly quality checks; manage the "Rework" process for products with minor variances to ensure they meet "A-Grade" finished goods standards.

·       Equipment Management: Ensure label printers, coders, and heat sealers are maintained and calibrated. Coordinate with maintenance for repairs.

3. Inventory & Materials

·       Area Control: Maintain 100% inventory accuracy within the project room; manage "Work-in-Progress" (WIP) staging.

·       Label Management: Oversee the template selection and printing of compliance and product labels to prevent mislabeling errors.

4. Team Leadership & Scalability

·       Direct Supervision: Manage 15 permanent staff; scale to 30+ by onboarding and training temporary labor during peak seasons.

·       Training: Maintain a cross-training matrix to ensure flexibility across different packaging lines.

Required Skills & Qualifications

·       Experience: 3–5 years in a production or distribution supervisory role, specifically in packaging or kitting.

·       Technical: Proficiency in ERP systems and label software (Bartender/Zebra Designer).

·       Lean Tools: Practical experience with Gemba walks, 5S, and Root Cause Analysis.

·       Physical: Ability to stand/walk for 8+ hours and lift up to 40 lbs.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

·       To measure the success of this role, you should track:

·       Throughput Efficiency: Units per labor hour (UPH) across the 5 work groups.

·       Order Accuracy: % of work orders completed with zero labeling or coding errors.

·       ERP Latency: Time between physical work completion and ERP system posting (Target: < 2 hours).

·       Rework Recovery: % of received variances successfully corrected vs. scrapped.
