Job Summary
We are seeking  Direct Care staff  to join our team. The role of the direct care staff is to enhance and protect the children’s health, safety, and well-being; and to ensure that all duties, as assigned, are carried out in order to achieve their programmatic goals. 

 
Responsibilities 
  • Be prepared to take part in professional development.
  •  Knowing which children, you are responsible for on a daily basis
  •  Being aware of and accountable for each child’s on-going activity
  •    Providing the level of supervision necessary to ensure each child’s safety and well-being, including auditory and/or visual awareness of each child’s on-going activity as appropriate
  •  Being able to intervene when necessary to ensure each child’s safety. 
  • Know the child’s individual differences and abilities.
  • Know the child’s physical, mental, emotional, and social needs. 
  • Cultivate developmentally appropriate independence in children through planned but flexible program activities.
  • Ensure continuity of care for children by sharing with incoming caregiver’s information about each child’s activities during the previous shift and any verbal or written information or instructions given by the parent or other professionals.
  •  Implement and follow the children’s service plans.
  • Maintain daily progress notes for the child. Caregivers must sign and date each progress note at the time the progress note is completed. 
  • Maintain accurate documentation.
  • Supervise residents at all times
Prepare meals and snacks
  • Light housekeeping activities
  • Dispense medication
  • Provide companionship
  • Assist with errands and shopping
Qualifications
  • Previous experience as a Caregiver with at risk youths in a RTC setting is preferred.
  • First aid and CPR-certified
  • Knowledge of basic housekeeping tasks and cooking skills
  • Ability to adhere to all health and safety guidelines
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal spills
  • Be 21 years or older.
  • Must have a high school diploma or documentation to verify equivalency from home schooling.
