Job Description
Medical Assistant (Dermatology – Hands-On Clinical Role)
Location: Key West, FL
Pay: Starting at $28 - $30 + per hour DOE
Schedule: Full-Time
About the Role
We are seeking a hands-on, clinically focused Medical Assistant to join a fast-paced dermatology practice. This role is primarily procedural and patient-facing, ideal for someone who enjoys being directly involved in patient care and assisting with a wide range of dermatologic treatments.
While prior dermatology experience is a plus, we are willing to train the right candidate who brings strong clinical fundamentals, attention to detail, and a desire to grow in a procedural setting.
What You’ll Be Doing (Clinical Focus)
- Prepare patients and exam rooms for medical, cosmetic, and surgical procedures
- Assist providers during procedures, exams, and treatments
- Take medical histories and document patient concerns
- Administer medications under provider direction
- Capture and manage pre- and post-procedure photos
- Assist with minor surgical procedures, including:
- Suture removal
- Dressing changes
- Wound care
- Collect, label, and process lab specimens
- Educate patients on post-procedure care and medications
- Sterilize instruments and maintain a sterile field
- Monitor medication and supply expiration dates
- Restock, clean, and turn over exam rooms efficiently
- Provide attentive, compassionate, and detail-oriented patient care
Additional Responsibilities
- Document patient interactions and procedures accurately in the EHR (ModMed)
- Support overall clinic flow and ensure a smooth patient experience
- Assist with light administrative tasks as needed
What We’re Looking For
Must-Have Traits
- Strong attention to detail and ability to stay focused in a clinical setting
- Comfortable working hands-on with procedures and patient care
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to different providers
- Team-oriented with a professional and positive demeanor
- Open to feedback, coaching, and continuous learning
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- 1+ year of clinical experience preferred (open to training the right candidate)
- Dermatology or procedural experience is a plus, but not required
Why This Role Stands Out
- Highly hands-on clinical experience (not just rooming patients and taking vitals)
- Opportunity to learn and grow in dermatologic procedures
- Supportive team willing to train and develop your skills
- Fast-paced, engaging environment where no two days are the same
Compensation & Benefits
- Competitive pay starting at $28 - $30+/hour
- Health, Dental, and Vision Insurance
- Paid Time Off (PTO) + 9 Paid Holidays
- 401(k) with company match
- Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA)
- Additional voluntary benefits
- Relocation assistance offered if not local
