Position Summary:

The Production Manager oversees all aspects of the metal finishing production process to ensure safety, quality, efficiency, and on-time delivery. This role leads the production team, drives continuous improvement, and collaborates with cross-functional departments to meet operational goals.

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan, coordinate, and supervise metal finishing production activities (e.g., plating, anodizing, powder coating, passivation, cleaning, surface treatments).
• Ensure production schedules are met while maintaining quality and cost targets.
• Lead, coach, and develop production staff; conduct performance evaluations and training.
• Maintain compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards (e.g., EPA, OSHA).
• Monitor workflow, labor costs, material usage, and production metrics; implement improvements where needed.
• Troubleshoot production issues and optimize processes for throughput and quality.
• Collaborate with Maintenance to maximize uptime of finishing lines and equipment.
• Work with Quality Assurance to address defects and ensure product specifications are met.
• Support inventory planning for chemicals, plating materials, and consumables.
• Drive lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, Operations Management, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 5+ years of progressive experience in manufacturing/production, with metal finishing experience preferred.
• Strong leadership and team management skills.
• Knowledge of metal finishing processes and surface treatment technologies.
• Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies preferred.
• Ability to read blueprints and understand quality standards/specifications.
