Position SummaryThe Child Welfare Services (CWS) Worker supports children’s safety, permanency, and well-being by providing services that strengthen and stabilize family functioning. Working within the CWS Referral Program, this role partners with families to reduce risk factors through consistent assessment, home-based support, and linkage to appropriate community services and resources.
Key ResponsibilitiesUtilize critical thinking and solution-focused approaches to support family safety, stability, and well-being.
Conduct weekly home visits to assess family dynamics, safety concerns, and risk factors impacting children.
Collaborate with families to identify needs and connect them to community-based services.
Provide referrals and coordination for short-term paraprofessional services, including household organization support, parenting skill development, and other interventions that reduce risk to children.
Facilitate access to medical, behavioral health, and social services when caregiver or child needs impact safety and functioning.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with program and agency standards.
Engage families using a strengths-based, culturally responsive, and trauma-informed approach.
Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or a related human services field preferred.
Experience:
One to two years of experience working with children, families, or targeted populations preferred.
Experience providing direct services to individuals, children, and families strongly preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
Familiarity with community-based resources serving children and families preferred.
Understanding of infant, child, and adolescent development.
Knowledge of trauma, mental health, substance use, and domestic violence issues preferred.
Experience working with multi-stressed families preferred.
Willingness to engage in reflective practice and continuous learning.
Ability to obtain and maintain First Aid and CPR certification within three months of hire.
Valid driver’s license, current auto insurance, and reliable personal vehicle required.
Clear driving record.
Ability to work evenings and weekends as program needs require.
$22.00 – $24.00 hourly
