We are seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to join our team. In this position, you will assist patients with their daily living needs, provide compassionate care, and generally increase their quality of life. Responsibilities may include monitoring vital signs, assisting with hygiene needs, and communicating with nurses and doctors. The ideal candidate is compassionate, reliable, and willing to be an advocate for their patients.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Provides a warm, welcoming and friendly atmosphere for residents, family, visitors and staff.
Provide personal hygiene, oral care, skin and nail care and hand washing.
Answer residents' call signals.
Observe residents' conditions, vital signs, and report changes to Licensed Nurse.
Assist with toileting, including bowel and bladder retraining and perineal care.
Assisted in the collection of specimens such as urine, feces, or sputum.
Inform verbally and/or submit in writing any observations and changes in a resident for the licensed nurse to evaluate.
Answer phones and direct visitors.
Use aseptic technique for purpose of infection control; this includes good hand washing techniques and infection control policies.
Document accurately all care given, including dietary intake and output, if necessary; temperature, weight, pulse and respiration, using approved abbreviations and descriptive terms.
Use appropriate and safe body mechanic techniques when lifting and/or transferring resident or supplies.
Participate in the planning or resident care through shift reports and resident care staffing meetings when assigned.
Respond to resident emergency including bleeding, falls, seizures, and performance of Heimlich maneuver.
Attend and participate in unit nursing staff meetings and monthly professional education programs.
Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth and personal interest as well as a calm environment.
Assist residents with scheduled medications prescribed for routine according to established policies and procedures, and state and federal regulations.
Takes and records blood pressures and pulses as assigned and as scheduled in conjunction with prescribed medication therapy. Reports changes from prior readings to licensed nurse.
Keeps med cart clean and in proper order.
Completes resident grooming including hair care, shaving, dressing and weighing.
Uses good hand hygiene techniques to prevent the spread of infection, knowledgeable about infection control policies.
Assists in orienting residents to facility environment and routines upon admission and throughout stay, as needed.
Documents accurately according to Autumn Hills ALF policies and procedures.
Maintains confidentiality of all resident care information and assures patients' rights and privacy is protected at all times.
Reports promptly to nurse any observations and changes in a resident's condition.
