Summary:
We are representing a reputable mechanical / fire protection contractor seeking an experienced General Manager to lead their residential and multifamily division. This role requires strong trade knowledge in fire protection systems and hands-on leadership across all phases of operations—including estimating, bidding, design, installation, materials, and field coordination. The ideal candidate is a strategic, relationship-driven leader with a background in construction management and deep understanding of wet sprinkler installation, testing, and fire protection operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the full operational cycle of the division, including estimating, design, procurement, installation, and field execution

  • Lead sales and production meetings, set performance goals, and align team operations with company objectives

  • Manage division budgets, staffing, and forecasting while maintaining profitability and efficiency

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with builders, vendors, and clients to support ongoing and future projects

  • Mentor and motivate team members to ensure high performance and accountability

  • Collaborate with senior leadership on business strategy, growth initiatives, and division expansion

  • Monitor field operations to ensure safety, quality, and schedule adherence

  • Represent the division in executive, client, and industry meetings

  • Drive continuous improvement across estimating accuracy, field productivity, and client satisfaction

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 8+ years of experience in fire protection, mechanical, or related construction field

  • Proven leadership experience managing a division, large department, or operations team

  • Strong understanding of fire protection systems, wet sprinkler installation, testing, and inspection processes

  • Experience in project management, estimating, and construction scheduling

  • Solid relationships within the residential and multifamily builder market preferred

  • Computer proficient; familiarity with Viewpoint or similar software a plus

  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, field-oriented environment with no hybrid or remote work
