Job Description
JOB SUMMARY:
Our interventional pain management practice is expanding, and we are seeking a Medical Assistant to support our Spruce Pine & Boone clinics. This job is not remote or hybrid. The successful full-time candidate will be able to work in-clinic in both Spruce Pine and Boone, from 7am to 6pm on 4 days each week. A part-time candidate working 2 days from 7am to 6pm in-clinic in Spruce Pine will also be considered. Primary responsibility will be to check patients in/out of appointments, take vitals, room patients, and maintain accurate EMR data.
- You will be in Boone two days each week and Spruce Pine two days each week, from 7am to 6pm.
- You will have your nights, weekends, and holidays off.
- Pay dependent upon experience and skills.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- High school degree required
- CMA certificate desirable but not required if candidate has previous clinical experience
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- At least one year of experience in clinical setting preferred
- Excellent customer service and communication skills required
- Must be reliable, able to prioritize, and multi-task effectively
- Takes initiative and ownership, and can work independently
- Comfortable using computers including EMR (Athena) and Microsoft office apps; comfortable using email and interacting with internet applications
- Professional appearance and conduct
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Clinical & Administrative Support
- Responsible for patient vitals, rooming and history taking,
- Properly notifies physicians/mid-level providers if there are problems that need to be addressed,
- Answer the phone in a timely & professional manner, addressing patient questions/concerns or relaying messages as necessary,
- Maintains a proper, safe, and clean work environment,
- Performs all other duties, tasks, and projects as assigned by the clinical manager and physicians/mid-level providers,
- Maintains patient confidentiality and complies with HIPAA and compliance guidelines established by the practice.
Typical Physical Demands
Position requires full range of body motion including manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Involves extensive standing and walking is required. Employee will occasionally be asked to lift and carry items weighing up to 30 pounds.
