Senior Node.js Developer Healthcare

Job Summary

We are seeking a Senior Node.js Developer with strong hands-on experience building scalable backend services and APIs, preferably within healthcare, payer, provider, or life sciences environments. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Node.js, cloud-native architectures, and healthcare compliance standards such as HIPAA.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain high-performance backend services using Node.js.

• Build and optimize RESTful and/or GraphQL APIs for healthcare applications.

• Integrate with healthcare systems such as EHR/EMR, claims platforms, member portals, and third-party APIs.

• Implement secure data handling practices to ensure HIPAA and PHI compliance.

• Work closely with product managers, frontend teams, and architects to translate business requirements into technical solutions.

• Optimize application performance, scalability, and reliability.

• Write clean, testable, and maintainable code following best practices.

• Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and architecture decisions.

• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues and performance bottlenecks.

• Mentor junior developers and provide technical guidance.

Required Skills & QualificationsTechnical Skills

• Strong experience with Node.js (Express, NestJS, or similar frameworks).

• Proficiency in JavaScript (ES6+) and TypeScript.

• Experience building microservices and API-based architectures.

• Strong understanding of asynchronous programming, event loop, and non-blocking I/O.

• Experience with databases:

  • SQL: PostgreSQL, MySQL

  • NoSQL: MongoDB, DynamoDB

• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS preferred).

• Knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, and containerized deployments.

• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.

• Strong understanding of authentication and authorization (OAuth2, JWT).

• Experience implementing logging, monitoring, and error handling.

Healthcare Domain Experience

• Prior experience working in healthcare, payer, provider, or life sciences domains.

• Knowledge of healthcare regulations such as HIPAA, PHI/PII data handling.

• Experience integrating with healthcare systems (EHR/EMR, claims, eligibility, enrollment).
