American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PCU Float position requiring a MO or compact RN license, with at least 2 years of recent PCU specialty experience and night shift availability.
Details- Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Float position within a hospital setting
- Float coverage spans all MS/Tele units, including ED inpatient holds, Neuro Stepdown, Cardiac Telemetry, and PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown
- Patient ratio of 1:5
- Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 18:45–07:15
- 8 weekend shifts required per 6-week schedule period, in a combination of Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
- No on-call requirements
- Block scheduling is not available
- Patient population includes cardiac (post-MI, pre/post cardiac cath and surgery), neurological (CVA), renal, orthopedic (total joint replacements), and general medical-surgical cases
- Required skills include: dysrhythmia interpretation and management, telemetry monitoring (unit and remote), rapid response team utilization, IV insulin protocols, feeding tube care, pre/post hemodialysis management, blood product administration, central line and PICC line management, heparin protocols, cardiac drip management and titration, PCA, procedural sedation, peripheral nerve block catheters, chest tube management, non-invasive airway management (CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC), tracheostomy management, wound care/wound vac, and isolation precautions
- Preferred skills include port access and chemotherapy monitoring
- Active MO RN license or compact RN license currently in hand; both Kansas and Missouri licensure required due to potential floating between facilities
- Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- Minimum 2 years of recent PCU specialty experience required, with at least 1 full year of in-specialty experience within the past 12 months and no employment gap greater than 90 days in the past year
- Previous charge RN and teaching hospital experience preferred
- 2 professional references required: one must be supervisor level or above, the second may be a charge RN; all references must be from individuals who have worked with the candidate within the past year
- SSN required for consideration
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility; local candidates are not accepted
- RTO is capped at 7 days for the duration of the contract
- Charge RN assignments and holiday shift coverage may be required as needed
- Pre-employment online modules are required as part of facility compliance onboarding
