Description

Essential Functions:

  • Sets up and serves food on cafeteria lines and portions food for individual servings in accordance with instructions.
  • Replaces glassware, dishes and silverware and refills condiment containers. Wipes and washes tables, counter tops.
  • Cleans work area, utensils and equipment; removes garbage; mops floors; cleans walls, windows and tables.
  • Removes dirty dishes, glasses and silverware from serving counters. Mixes washing solutions and operates electric dish washing machines and/or wash dishes, glassware, pots, pans and kitchen utensils by hand.
  • Makes coffee in urns. Assists in the set up of serving lines.
  • Performs a wide variety of manual tasks in kitchen or dining area or food activity, which involves light to moderate physical effort and is done according to established procedures.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

  • High school diploma, or general education degree (GED); or related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must initially pass the Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS), and yearly review thereafter. To be able to gain access to Department of Defense installation.

 

Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to communicate effectively with customers and other staff members.

 

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.  Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

 

Mathematical skills: Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Sanitation and Food Preparation certification preferred, but not required.
