Description

SUMMARY

When you join the team as a Classroom Support Professional you'll assist the Teacher in implementing lessons designed to stimulate growth across all developmental domains. Together you will establish routines, rituals and structures to support individualized care for children and cultivate parent relationships. As part of the Purdue Retiree Association we can offer part-time positions in shifts of 11am-2pm or 3pm-6pm daily. 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in the implementation of developmentally-appropriate individual and group lessons to stimulate growth in language, literacy, mathematical, cognitive, physical, and social skills.
  • Assist in preparing and managing an engaging environment that encourages children’s independence and self-selection of learning activities.
  • Establish warm and responsive relationships that allow each child to feel recognized, acknowledged and secure.
  • Maintain a healthy, safe and clean environment for children and colleagues. Example of responsibilities include but are not limited to: diaper changing, safe sleep supervision, potty-training, bottle feeding, plating meals, cleaning environment and children after meals, picking up and re-organizing toys, etc.
  • Adhere to all regulatory standards, rules and requirements, including those for NAEYC accreditation, Paths to QUALITY™, CACFP and Indiana child care center licensing.
  • Communicate with families on a regular and ongoing basis to relay information regarding each child’s day and information from the teacher and/or program.
  • Support the Teacher in noticing and documenting child developmental observations.
  • Other duties as assigned to advance the mission of Early Learning Indiana.

Requirements

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & OTHER REQUIREMENTS

An individual must have the following education and/or experience.

  • High School Diploma (or equivalent) required
  • Child Development Associate (CDA) preferred
    • If assigned to an Early Head Start classroom a CDA (or higher equivalent education) must be obtained within 1 year of employment
  • Experience in an early childhood setting working directly with young children is preferred
