Special Education Teachers 

Everett Public Schools is seeking enthusiastic and qualified Special Education staff to teach our students an in-person Special Education Extended School Year Program. This program aims to provide academic support to address learning loss and maintain skills, in line with the goals and benchmarks outlined in each student’s Individualized Education Plan (IEP). 

The special education teacher will plan lessons and implement daily routines and developmentally appropriate activities for students in small-group educational classrooms, based on their IEPs. Teachers will collect data on students’ IEP objectives and report on progress at the end of the program. The special education teacher will advise and directly oversee paraprofessionals within their classroom. They will collaborate with ancillary services staff to implement IEP services.

Program: Special Education Extended Year Program (Pre K-to students entering Grade 8)

 

Working Times 

  • 7/6/26-7/31/26 7:30am-1:30pm

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Plan and implement daily routines and developmentally appropriate activities for students in small-group educational classrooms, based on their IEPs. 
  • Collect data on students’ IEP objectives and report on progress at the end of the program. 
  • Collaborate with ancillary services staff in the implementation of IEP services. 
  • Advise and directly oversee paraprofessionals within their classroom. 
  • Use best practices in ELA and mathematics to encourage higher-order and critical thinking, as well as collaboration, for students with disabilities. 
  • Implement the specific literacy-based strategies identified for summer school and participate in coaching opportunities to strengthen their implementation. 
  • Use all available district-provided technology and curricula to create engaging lessons and supports aligned with 21st-century skills.
  • Manage classroom behavior with strategies that motivate students, support an inclusive learning community, and empower students to participate actively and appropriately in all program activities.
  • Incorporate Social Emotional Learning standards and curriculum that promote self-confidence, team-building, and informed decision-making. 
  • Utilize inclusive practices that support students with disabilities and English language learners. 
  • Communicate with student families regularly using culturally responsive strategies that promote two-way conversations. 
  • Contribute to initiatives and events assigned by the Principal, Assistant Principal, and/or ESY Coordinator. 

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education and/or Liberal Arts
  • Massachusetts Teaching Licensure in Elementary Education, Early Childhood, Special Education, English as a Second Language, or related fields.
  • SEI Endorsement

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s Degree in Education
  • 3 or more years of experience working with special education students 
  • Current EPS employee in good standing
  • Dual Licensure and/or relevant experience in Special Education and/or English as a Second Language
  • Previous experience working in the Extended School Year
  • Foreign Language Proficiency

Remuneration: $40/hour not to exceed $7,350
