Job Title: Elementary Food Service

Location: The Academy of Arts and Knowledge Elementary School

Position Type: Part-Time, 10am-1:00pm, Monday to Friday

Start Date: April 13th, 2026

Position Summary:

The Lunch Service Assistant supports the Food Services Manager in preparing, serving, and cleaning up daily lunch service for approximately 200 elementary students. This individual plays a key role in ensuring a safe, clean, and welcoming cafeteria environment while maintaining compliance with food safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in the preparation and portioning of food items for lunch service
• Set up and maintain serving lines and food stations
• Serve meals to students in a timely and friendly manner
• Support dishwashing, cleaning, and sanitizing of food prep areas, utensils, and equipment
• Monitor student safety and behavior in the lunch line
• Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen and serving area
• Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines
• Assist with inventory checks and receiving food deliveries as needed
• Communicate effectively with staff, students, and administration
• Perform other related duties as assigned by the Food Services Manager

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Previous experience in food service or school lunch program is a plus
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and lift up to 30 pounds
• Basic knowledge of food handling and sanitation practices
• Friendly, positive attitude and a commitment to student well-being
• Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently as well as part of a team
