Employment Status: Part-Time
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Pay Rate: $14.55/hr
Experience Required: At least eighteen (18) years of age with some customer service or team experience.
Minimum Education Requirements: Some High School
Department: Guest Services.
Direct Supervisor: Guest Services Team Lead/Supervisor
Supervisory Responsibility: Direct (0); Indirect (0)
Primary Work Location: Zoo Setting both indoors and outdoors.
Certification: Valid Oklahoma driver’s license to operate Zoo vehicles.
Other: This position is safety sensitive. It is subject to pre-employment and/or periodic criminal background checks and drug testing.
Job Summary: Guest services guides represent the Zoo at the highest level by connecting guests with wildlife and wild places in meaningful ways. The guide is responsible for giving in-depth knowledge of the Zoo and animals on tours and stations throughout the park.
Essential Job Functions
An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following essential duties:
- Walk with guests on tours throughout the park.
- Recall and distribute information about the Zoo, animal areas, and specific animals.
- Be able to follow safety procedures, and communicate them to guests, in behind-the-scenes animal areas.
- Handle financial transactions accurately on multiple point of sale devices.
- Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing related goals.
- Resolve customer complaints, guide them and provide relevant information.
- Assist guests by providing information about the Zoo’s animal collections and conservation efforts.
- Provide excellent guest service while remaining on schedule and safety conscious.
- Collaborate with other Zoo departments and Zoo partners.
- Communicate clearly and concisely.
- Enforce Zoo’s rules and regulations.
- Report comments and/or complaints to supervisors quickly.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment by complying with procedures and rules.
- Assist with preparation, arrangement, execution and dismantling for special events and off-site sales as directed.
