About this job
ConMet is looking for our next Material Handler. The primary job duties are to operate a forklift to load, unload, and move materials within our aluminum foundry. We are conveniently located in Clackamas, OR. A short drive from Portland, Sandy, Oregon City, or Milwaukie. We offer a stable 40 hour work week. This role is on day shift Monday to Friday 7AM-3:30PM. Starting pay is $21.92/hour with an increase to $22.47 after 90 days.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.
- Move the casting dies to and from the casting machines, tool room and die racks.
- Move dies to and from the steam cleaning area.
- Move trim dies to and from the trim presses and tool room
- Transfers parts off of each cell when complete.
- Confirm parts. After confirmation place each lot in proper designated area, i.e. sanding, vibratory, shelf, machining, dock audit, shipping, quality assurance, etc.
- Set up baskets or pallets for production.
- Dump scrap hoppers and bring scrap basket to melting furnace.
- Set up bundles of ingot for Metal Tenders.
- Furnish cardboard to the plant as needed.
- Make boxes (tri-wall) for parts and make sure they have tare weights.
- Perform daily and weekly maintenance checks on the Hysters and fill out the charting that goes with it.
- Stack lots in the obvious order in the warehouse. Stay up with current practices on space utilization. (If items are stacked 3 high, maintain that practice). Always maintain safety sense.
- Keep all aisle ways clear to allow traffic to move in both directions simultaneously and safely (scrap cars, baskets, pallets, machine dies, do not belong in aisle way).
- Each shift is responsible for leaving a finished – cleared floor for the oncoming shift. All finished lots should be confirmed and put in proper area, scrap hoppers should be empty, and dies, tri-dies, and insets, etc. should be in proper locations.
- Read all paperwork attached to lots. Be aware of Red Tag, Blue Tag, Unfinished Tag, NCR’s, etc. Bring this information to the attention of the persons responsible.
- Move red tagged product back from dock audit to the cell where it came from.
- Assist Quality Assurance in moving parts in and out for x-ray, vendor material, etc., and move approved material to the proper destination.
- Other duties may be assigned.
