Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct security patrols at the Water and Electric Departments, substations, Lake Springfield properties and buildings, and the Municipal Center West.
- As dispatcher, control access to and from the power plant, ensure visitors have the proper authorization to access the plant and verifies that visitors have completed Site Awareness Training.
- Enforce Chapter 96 of the City Code for Lake Springfield and other CWLP properties by issuing ordinance violation
citations. - Opens buildings for assigned reservations. Secure buildings and take inventory upon conclusion of the
reservations. - Open all Lake Springfield parks in the morning and close all park gates at night.
Required Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have:
Knowledge, skills, and mental development equivalent to a high school diploma or GED, along with at least one year of experience in safety or security. A valid Class D driver’s license is required. Candidates must be able to work flexible shifts, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays, and be comfortable working in both indoor and outdoor environments, including extreme cold (below 32°F) for extended periods. The role also requires the physical ability to regularly push, pull, and lift, including lifting up to 100 pounds periodically. Preference for employment in all positions with the city shall be given to applicants who are full-time city residents.
