POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Child Care Staff is responsible for assisting the lead caregiver in providing a safe environment for students. The will work with the lead caregiver to maintain written daily records, materials, equipment and classroom as required by child daycare licensing. The child care staff will share in the responsibility for the physical, emotional, social and academic welfare of all students. They will attend staff meetings and complete 24 hours of professional development annually, primarily in the High School curriculum. Salary: $16.50 Per Hour

Reports To:   Early Childhood Supervisor

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience or a desire to work with infants, toddlers and preschoolers.
Knowledge of High Scope Curriculum preferred.
Knowledge of basic physical, social, emotional & intellectual development of infants, toddlers and preschoolers.
Ability to initiate, interact and encourage children in activities.
Demonstrate ability to communicate effectively with parents, students and staff.
Willing to learn the position and take direction.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Required to have a current TB test; CPR & First Aid training certificates.
Ability to exert physical effort in sedentary to heavy work involving routine stooping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching.
Ability to lift 50 pounds unassisted.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Assist the lead caregiver in providing a safe environment for students.
Work with the lead caregiver to maintain written daily records, materials, equipment, and classroom as required by child daycare licensing.
Share responsibility for the physical, social, emotional and academic welfare of all students.
Supervise children.
Attend staff meetings & complete 16-24 hours of professional development annually.
Other duties as assigned by the Early Childhood Supervisor & Director.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:  High School diploma and/or related experience.
LANGUAGE, MATHEMATICAL AND REASONIING SKILLS: Ability to speak and write effectively.  Ability to apply mathematical concepts to practical situations.  Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral format and deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
