Description

Under general direction of the Division Manager and occasionally direction from Sodexo General Manager, performs a wide range of moderate to difficult operational management activities at the company's project site(s); coordinates and directs operations and personnel to ensure efficient and profitable operations of all daily evolutions; uses independent judgment within the framework of government contract requirements, established company policies, protocols, objectives or higher direction, in decisions effecting operational activities; makes recommendations and assists in the formulation of operational objectives, policies, protocols and plans as they relate to the project site(s) to which assigned. Plans, directs, and coordinates activities of the project site(s), through the supervisors assigned, to ensure that government contract requirements and company goals and objectives for the project site(s) are accomplished within prescribed time frames and funding parameters by performing the following duties personally or through directing subordinate supervisors.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following, but not limited to:

 

  • Directs and coordinates, through the Division Manager, operational activities and functions utilizing knowledge of government contract requirements, established company policies, procedures, protocols and practices, in a manner that ensures performance compliance and fiscal stability of the project site(s).
  • Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in serving meals, cleaning dining and service areas, washing dishes, cleaning dish washing rooms, washing pots, cleaning pot washing rooms, cleaning restrooms, removing trash and policing the outside area.
  • Routinely checks refrigeration temperatures, reviews and approves menus, performs facility inspections and forwards reports of deficiencies to Division Manager, performs inventories on all supplies and equipment as required, performs personal hygiene inspections on an announced inspection schedule, performs Quality Control inspections in all areas of the contract. 

 

a) Writes and posts employee schedules written to stay within budgeted hours

b) Coordinates with contractor’s management team to communicate about mess hall operations including but not limited to workflow, customer counts, operational deficiencies and response to audits

c) Works with JOI HR to interview, secure and effectively on-board new team members

d) Performs or verifies daily cleaning audits, daily cashier paperwork, USMC paperwork and menu compliance audits

e) Performs or verifies daily Quality Control inspections to ensure compliance with contract

 f) Works directly with staff in all meal periods to ensure sanitation and quality control standards are upheld

 

  • Reviews current and newly directed tasks, procedures, requirements, restructuring, or contractual modifications, to determine periods, funding limitations, procedures for accomplishing tasks, staffing requirements, and allotment of available resources to various phases of tasks. 
  • On a regular rotational and necessarily frequent basis, attends all shifts of the project site(s) to directly observe workflow and compliance with protocols. Directs and coordinates activities of project site(s) supervisory personnel by providing feedback and implementing immediate contingency direction to supervisory personnel.
  • Monitors budget on a daily basis to ensure weekly goals will be made. Makes immediate operational changes as necessary to correct deficiencies before the next day’s work. Modifies work protocols as necessary from "lessons learned."
  • Reviews budget with Division Manager on a weekly basis to ensure end of month goals are attained. Makes daily operational changes as necessary to correct deficiencies before the following week's review.
  • Maintains exclusive responsibility for authorizing overtime. Takes necessary action on a daily basis to ensure overtime is eliminated by implementing changes in procedures, or by providing additional personnel, or by other extraordinary measures as may be required, including disciplinary action. If necessary, changes require outside or higher authority resources, requests for such resources will be made immediately and in writing with diligent follow-up until necessary resources have been provided.
  • Reviews monthly budget outcomes with Division Manager and subsequently, with subordinate supervisory personnel to devise and implement operational strategies necessary to ensure achievement of financial objectives, including the elimination of overtime.
  • Reviews all daily reports prepared by project site(s) supervisors and modifies schedules or plans as required. Prepares project site(s) reports and records for management review, as directed. Analyzes all daily reports of activities to identify inefficiencies, waste, fraud, or hindrances to profitable workflow. Subsequently evaluates current procedures, practices, protocols and precedents for accomplishing operational activities and functions Proactively anticipates monitors, identifies and resolves operational problems. Ensures employees receive training necessary to perform tasks to which assigned and/or improve on exhibited deficiencies. · Develops alternative and/or contingency methods for work improvement. Discusses with Division Manager to ensure compatibility with other company objectives or governmental regulations, and if approved, then implements policy for work improvement or contingency methods.
  • Confers on a daily basis with all supervisors to provide technical advice and to resolve problems. Periodically confers with all employees assigned to the project site(s) through formal group meetings or individually. Maintains written records of the general subject matter of such meetings.
  • Direct communications regarding operational activities with related activities of the Director of Personnel is authorized. The Director of Personnel is primarily responsible for matters dealing with people with disabilities in the areas of employee recruitment, selections, transfers, promotions, and disciplinary or dismissal measures. The Division Manager should be kept generally informed of the subject matter of such communications. The Division Manager will normally be the primary point of contact for personnel issues for employees who are not disabled.
  • Direct communications regarding operational related activities with the Director of Compliance is authorized. The Director of Compliance is primarily responsible for matters dealing with policy requirements, investigations and all higher authority criteria and compliance measures necessary to accomplish operational objectives. The Division Manager should be kept generally informed of the subject matter of such communications.
  • Through overall direction and monitoring from the Division Manager, oversees, administers, and ensures compliance with all aspects of the company Injury and Illness Prevention Plan (IIPP), safety and wellness plans and all quality control programs. Responsible for the conduct and reporting of all project site(s) s accident investigations.
  • Interacts with government agency peers on a regular basis to coordinate efforts and insure attainment of mutual objectives. Peer level would include, as example, positions up to and including Enrollment Services Officer and Quality Assurance Evaluators. Confers with the Division Manager for authority to communicate with government authority above peer level.
  • Ensures that in addition to personnel required to be informed by policy or protocol, the Division Manager shall also be kept immediately and fully informed of any and all situations presenting which could in any way cause negative consequence to the company. If there is any doubt as to whether to inform or not, such doubt in itself will be cause for the requirement to report.
  • Directs, supervises and evaluates supervisory personnel in the performance of their operational tasks. Oversees all duties of the supervisors assigned. Supervisor Job Descriptions and internal written task assignment documentation will be used to monitor all specific supervisory responsibility for compliance. · Responsible for evaluating the performance of all subordinate employees, completing the 30-day initial evaluation for all disabled employees and annual evaluation forms for all employees; review the evaluation with the employee to review strengths and areas needing improvement; turn in evaluation form to the Personnel Department to be filed in the employee’s personnel file.
  • Promotes approved policies to supervisors to meet operational objectives. Ensures an effective communications flow is maintained between employees, supervisors, and upper management.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Manages Assistant Project Managers (APM) and supervisors who assist in oversight and direction of team members assigned to the worksite. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of front of the House (FOH) operations. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems.

 

PROBLEM SOLVING: Identifies and resolves problems proactively and in a timely manner, gathers and analyzes information, develops alternative solutions, works well in group problem solving situations, uses reason even when dealing with emotional topics.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: High School diploma or equivalent.
