Job Description
As a Commissioning Supervisor - Level 2, you will be a key leader on-site, responsible for overseeing and executing the commissioning and startup activities for utility-scale energy storage and generation projects. You will ensure that all systems are installed correctly, tested thoroughly, and handed over to operations safely and efficiently, adhering to the highest industry standards. This role requires strong technical expertise, leadership skills, and a commitment to safety and quality.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and supervise on-site commissioning activities for Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and associated solar PV systems.
- Develop, review, and execute commissioning plans, test procedures, and checklists in accordance with project specifications and industry standards.
- Coordinate daily field activities with contractors, vendors, and internal project teams to ensure seamless project execution.
- Ensure strict adherence to all site safety protocols, conducting safety briefings and promoting a zero-incident culture.
- Manage commissioning documentation, including test reports, punch lists, and turnover packages, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues that arise during installation, testing, and startup phases.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to less experienced commissioning coordinators and field personnel.
- Report daily and weekly progress, issues, and risks to the Commissioning Manager and project leadership.
- Support final system energization, performance testing, and the transition to commercial operations.
- Experience: 6-10 years of hands-on experience in commissioning, startup, or field engineering for utility-scale power generation, substations, or industrial electrical systems. Direct experience with BESS is a significant plus.
- Education: Associate degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field. A Bachelor's degree is preferred but not required with equivalent experience.
- Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of medium and high-voltage electrical systems, protection relays, SCADA, PLCs, and inverter-based technologies.
- Leadership: Proven ability to lead field teams, manage contractors, and drive projects to completion on schedule.
- Safety: Strong knowledge of OSHA standards and a demonstrated commitment to safe work practices.
- Travel: Willingness and ability to travel up to 75% to project sites across the US for extended durations. Must be based near or willing to work from Juno Beach, FL when not traveling.
- Tools: Proficiency with standard commissioning tools, documentation software, and the Microsoft Office suite.
