Position Summary:
Yard/Fleet Coordinator operates commercial vehicles to move trucks and trailers thought the Yard and to repair shop as needed. Yard drivers must work efficiently to meet customer service goals while keeping safety as a priority at all times.
General Purpose:
- Responsible for the safe and efficient moving of trailers between various Company warehouses and transportation lots.
- Complete Road tests for new drivers during orientation, and completes check ins and check outs.
Position Responsibilities:
- Safely operate commercial vehicles on Company property as well as the public roads surrounding the facility.
- Communicate with yard coordinator to receive instructions and directions concerning the movement of trucks and trailers.
Essential Skill and Experience:
- All yard drivers must possess a class A Commercial Drivers License as well as possessing a current Department of Transportation medical card.
- Yard drivers must meet all required Department of Transportation requirements to operate a commercial motor vehicle.
- Yard drivers must successfully participate in the required Department of Transportation drug testing program as well as the Company’s drug testing program.
- Yard drivers must possess the skills and experience necessary to safely and efficiently operate a commercial motor vehicle. One to two years of experience is preferable.
- Yard drivers must be able to back trailers into tight spaces safely and efficiently as well as the ability to safely and efficiently hook and unhook trailers.
- Yard drivers should have the ability to work with or without supervision and complete assigned tasks with or without supervision. Yard drivers should possess good communication skills as well as the ability to work with other yard drivers as a team to accomplish tasks.
- Yard drivers should be able to recognize the importance of working safely and willingly comply with all safety rules and procedures.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Yard drivers should be physically fit enough to climb in and out of commercial vehicles on a continuous basis throughout shift. Yard drivers are required to open and shut trailer doors.
- Walking medium distances is required throughout the shift.
- Yard drivers are required to work outside in all types of weather and temperatures throughout a shift.
