Description\n

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a MS/Tele Float Pool position at a Level I Trauma Center in Colorado, requiring at least 2 years of MS/Tele experience and flexibility to float across multiple specialty units on night shift.

• Acute care hospital setting at a Level I Trauma Center
\n
• Float pool covering multiple MS/Tele units spanning specialties including Cardiac, Neuro, Oncology, Rehab, Renal, Bariatrics, Ortho, Trauma, and ED Observation
\n
• Adult and geriatric patient population with diagnoses including cardiac, neurological, orthopedic, oncology, renal, urology, general surgery post-op, gynecology, psych/detox, ENT, and general medicine
\n
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5–6 based on acuity
\n
• RNs may be required to titrate Heparin drips
\n
• RT equipment in use, including vents, CPAP, and BiPAP
\n
• Charting via Epic (experience required)
\n
• 12-hour night shifts (7p–7a)
\n
• 6–9 weekend shifts required per 6-week scheduling block
\n
• Schedules are set by leadership for 6-week blocks; travelers are expected to remain flexible to fill scheduling gaps
\n
• Float assignments may include ICU (low acuity holds), PCU/Stepdown, and MS/Tele units; in rare cases, may float to sister facilities within the zone
\n
• Low-census standby required on a rare basis
\n

Requirements\n

\n
• Active CO RN license or Compact (NLC) license currently in hand — pending licenses will not be accepted
\n
• Current AHA-issued BLS and ACLS certifications required — pending certifications not accepted
\n
• Minimum 2 years of MS/Tele experience required
\n
• Prior neuro experience preferred
\n
• Candidates must reside at least 60 miles from the facility (city center of the float zone) to qualify for travel rates — a valid driver's license is used to verify permanent address
\n
• 2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
\n
• Copy of a valid driver's license required for consideration
\n

Additional Information\n

• Orientation consists of 1–2 days with a preceptor (approximately 12 orientation hours total); clinicians must be on-site in state for the full orientation week even if initial modules are completed remotely
\n
• Each unit has a designated charge nurse who typically does not carry a patient assignment, though night shift charge nurses may occasionally take a small assignment
\n
• Nursing aides are present on the unit
\n
• Travelers are responsible to secure housing that allows them to meet float zone requirements
\n
• May be asked to participate in holiday rotation
\n
• All time-off requests must be submitted prior to the start of the assignment
\n
• No scrub color requirement — any color is acceptable
\n
• Candidates may not have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility within the past year; candidates employed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered
