The Specialist, ELL provides instructional and program support for English Language Learner (ELL) students within an assigned school. This position assists students in developing English language proficiency, administers assessments, monitors student progress, and supports compliance with state and federal ELL program requirements. The position may also serve as a communication resource for multilingual students and families and assist teachers in implementing effective language acquisition strategies.
Key Responsibilities- Create and assign services and schedules for English Learner students at an assigned school in collaboration with the supervising administrator.
- Implement instructional programs and lesson plans under the supervisor's direction to support English language acquisition.
- Administer assessments and collect program data related to English language proficiency and ELL program requirements.
- Monitor student progress in oral and written English communication skills to support development toward language proficiency.
- Maintain and update English Learner student records, run parent reports and letters, and complete compliance documentation required by state and federal regulations.
- Adapt classroom activities, assignments, and instructional materials under the direction of classroom teachers to support English Learner students in understanding academic expectations.
- Assist students individually or in small groups with lesson assignments to reinforce language and academic learning concepts.
- Provide translation or interpretation of verbal and written communication for students, families, and staff when multilingual skills are available.
- Support teachers and staff in implementing strategies that assist English Learner students in academic success.
- Collaborate with school staff to ensure appropriate services and supports are provided to English Learner students.
- Participate in meetings, training sessions, and professional development related to ELL programs and student support services.

Work Environment

The job generally requires a combination of sitting, walking, and standing while supporting instructional activities in school environments.

Education
Highly Qualified: High school diploma AND minimum of two years of college (48 credit hours) or willingness to take and pass the Paraeducator Assessment through Master Teacher.
