High Volt Electric, a corporation that performs work on Public Projects, is seeking an Certified Payroll & Accounts Payable Specialist with Sage Contractor Experience for Construction. We are based in Simi Valley, but our projects cover Los Angeles, Ventura, San Bernardino, Riverside and Orange counties.

Job Title: Certified Payroll & Accounts Payable Specialist (For Public Works Construction)
Location: Simi Valley, CA

 

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm
Job Type: Part-Time or Full-Time
Reports To: Accounting Manager

 

Position Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Certified Payroll & Accounts Payable Specialist with Sage Contractor experience to support accounting and administrative functions. This role is essential in ensuring timely certified payroll, labor compliance, vendor payments, job costing, and other financial support. The ideal candidate has a basic understanding of accounting principles, strong data entry skills, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced office setting.

Key Responsibilities:

 

Certified Payroll for Construction (CPR):

· Processes full-cycle payroll, including time review, adjustments, and submission.

· Prepares and submits certified payroll reports in compliance with prevailing wage laws, including Davis-Bacon and applicable state regulations.

· Ensures proper employee classifications, wage determinations, and fringe benefit compliance.

· Reviews timecards for accuracy, job coding, and compliance with project requirements.

· Maintains compliance with labor laws

· Coordinates with accounting and project teams to ensure alignment between payroll, job costing, and payables.

 

Accounts Payable for Construction (AP) (Must Have Sage Software Experience):

· Supports accounts payable functions, including invoice entry, expense reports, coding, and vendor coordination within Sage 100 Contractor.

· Verifies invoices against job cost and project documentation.

· Coordinates with accounting and project teams to ensure alignment between payroll, job costing, and payables.

· Assists with audits, reconciliations, and resolves discrepancies while meeting strict deadlines.

· Match purchase orders, packing slips, and invoices for accuracy.

· Ensure compliance with internal approval procedures.

· Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies.

· Support monthly closing by preparing AP reports and schedules.

 

Office Support:

· Maintain organized filing systems (digital and physical).

· Assist in ADP onboarding support for new employees.

 

Qualifications:

· High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred.

· Must have experience in Public Works Certified Payroll reporting, Accounts Payable / General Accounting (Minimum 3 Years).

· Experience with Sage accounting software (1-3 Years Preferred).

· Willing to Train in Payroll Processing (ADP TotalSource).

· Proficient with Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Outlook - Teams experience a plus.

· Strong organizational skills and high attention to detail.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

· Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial data.

· A positive attitude, with flexibility to assist in various office tasks.

· Willingness to grow in duties and responsibilities.

· Must be a team player, reliable, consistent, and a self-starter.

 

Work Environment:

· Office-based role with regular use of computers, phones, and office equipment.

· May require occasional lifting of supplies (up to 25lbs).

 

Compensation & Benefits:

· $30/hr. starting, with room to grow into a salary position.
