Job Description
Mechanical / Electromechanical Test Engineer
Hands-on contractor to support a high-velocity development cycle for a new consumer product. This individual must be able to independently execute test plans that involve the intersection of hardware durability and embedded systems. While some electrical knowledge would be beneficial, we prefer a test technician / test engineer that has a heavier focus on mechanical reliability and quality testing.
Core Competency Requirements:
1. Reliability & Stress Testing (HALT/HASS)
· Requirement: Deep familiarity with Highly Accelerated Life Testing (HALT) and Stress Screening (HASS).
· Expectation: The candidate shouldn't just "run" the test; they should understand how to monitor the product for intermittent failures under thermal or vibrational stress.
2. Data Acquisition (DAQ) & Instrumentation
· Tools: Experience with data acquisition (LabVIEW, DataQ, or similar PC-based data collection environments).
· Analysis: Ability to set up sensors (thermocouples, accelerometers, strain gauges), map them to a DAQ system, and interpret the resulting data to find product failures.
3. Shop & Lab Proficiency
· Mechanical: Must be safe and proficient with shop tools (drill press, saws, etc.) to modify prototypes or build custom test fixtures on the fly.
