Tap Room Manager

Job Description and Compensation

• Pay Range: $25.00–$29.00 per hour, depending on experience 
• Location: Volition Brewing, North Bend, WA 
• Status: Full-time (30-35 Hrs/week) 

Position Summary

Volition Brewing is looking for a Taproom Manager to lead our Front of House team and help create an exceptional guest experience in the taproom. This role is responsible for managing day-to-day FOH operations, supporting and developing staff, reinforcing service standards, and helping create a welcoming, polished, and well-run environment for guests and team members alike. 

The Taproom Manager will oversee the FOH team, work closely with lead staff, and partner with ownership to improve systems, training, accountability, and overall taproom performance. 

Core Responsibilities 

Front of House Leadership 

• Lead the day-to-day operation of the taproom floor 
• Manage FOH staff performance, expectations, and accountability 
• Help create a strong team culture rooted in hospitality, professionalism, and follow-through 
• Provide floor leadership during service and help maintain a calm, organized shift environment 
• Support staff in delivering a consistent and elevated guest experience

Staff Management and Development 

• Participate in hiring, onboarding, training, and coaching FOH staff 
• Set clear expectations for service, conduct, and daily execution 
• Provide regular feedback and performance coaching 
• Help address attendance, reliability, and performance issues in a timely and professional way 
• Work with ownership on staffing needs and team development 

Guest Experience 

• Ensure guests feel welcomed, guided, and cared for from arrival to departure 
• Reinforce service standards, hospitality expectations, and floor awareness 
• Handle guest concerns or service issues with professionalism and good judgment 
• Help create an experience that feels intentional, warm, and high quality 

Operations and Shift Execution 

• Help oversee daily shift readiness, bar standards, and service flow 
• Support scheduling, coverage planning, and communication around staffing needs 
• Ensure opening, closing, cleanliness, and sidework expectations are followed 
• Work with leads to improve bar organization, service consistency, and product knowledge 
• Identify breakdowns in systems and help improve the way the taproom operates 

Product Knowledge and Training 

• Help build a team that can speak confidently about beer, menu offerings, and the Volition brand 
• Reinforce staff education around new releases, beer styles, and menu changes 
• Support a culture of product knowledge, curiosity, and guest engagement 

Qualifications 

• 2+ years of hospitality, taproom, bar, or restaurant management experience preferred 
• Strong leadership and people-management skills 
• Experience coaching staff and reinforcing standards 
• Excellent communication and conflict-resolution skills 
• Comfortable leading shifts and working in a fast-paced guest-facing environment 
• Strong organizational skills and follow-through 
• Beer knowledge or enthusiasm for craft beer preferred 
• Ability to work nights, weekends, and occasional holidays as needed 

Physical Requirements 

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods 
• Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds 
• Ability to move quickly and work effectively in a busy service environment

• FOH staff are clear on expectations and accountable to them 
• Service is warm, polished, and consistent 
• Guests have a strong experience in the taproom 
• Staff product knowledge improves over time 
• Shifts run smoothly and the bar stays organized and ready for service 
• The FOH team is better trained, better supported, and better led
