American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a mixed-acuity PCU/MS Tele position requiring PCU/IMC experience within the last 3 years and a valid NY RN license.
Details\n- \n
- Mixed-acuity unit serving PCU, MS Telemetry, and general med-surg patients \n
- Patient population includes surgical (ENT, general, trauma, ortho), PCU, MS Tele, overflow medical, and rare pediatric cases — travelers are not assigned to pediatric patients unless experienced \n
- Patient ratios are acuity-adjusted: 1:3–5 on days and weekends, 1:3–7 on nights \n
- Night shift schedule: 4x12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM \n
- Every other weekend required \n
- Floating required to sister units: West 2, West 3, and the Observation unit \n
- EMR: Epic; Medication dispensing: Pyxis; Communication: SBAR \n
- Unit orientation is 12 hours \n

- Active NY RN license required \n
- Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) \n
- Minimum 1 year of RN experience required \n
- PCU, IMC, DOU, or Stepdown experience within the last 3 years required \n
- Required clinical skills include: telemetry and dysrhythmia interpretation and management, post-MI care, IV and insulin drip titration, heparin protocols, cardiac drip titration, PCA management, thrombolytic agents, CVA and seizure disorder care, substance withdrawal management, feeding tube care, continuous bladder irrigation, renal failure management, port access, blood product administration, central line and PICC line management, phlebotomy, peripheral IV insertion and care, chest tubes (Emerson/Pleur-evac), CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC, ABG interpretation, non-invasive airway management, tracheostomy management, ortho trauma, peripheral nerve block catheters, total joint replacements, traction, mastectomy care, wound care/wound vac, and isolation precautions \n
- PALS and TCAR experience preferred \n
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible \n
