About the Role:

The Director of Nursing (DON) plays a pivotal leadership role within healthcare and social assistance settings, overseeing the nursing department to ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care. This position is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining nursing policies and procedures that comply with regulatory standards and promote best practices. The DON leads and mentors nursing staff, fostering a collaborative and supportive environment that encourages professional growth and excellence in patient care. They coordinate with interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes and ensure efficient resource management. Ultimately, the DON serves as a key liaison between nursing staff, administration, patients, and families, ensuring that care delivery aligns with the organization's mission and values.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Registered Nurse (RN) license in the United States.
  • Minimum of 5 years of clinical nursing experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of homecare regulations, accreditation standards, and nursing best practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage teams and coordinate complex care environments.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Healthcare Administration.
  • Certification in Nursing Leadership or Administration (e.g., Nurse Executive Certification).
  • Experience working in homecare, long-term care, acute care, or specialized healthcare settings.
  • Proficiency with electronic health records using WellSky.
  • Strong background in quality improvement initiatives and patient safety programs.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and supervise nursing staff, including hiring, training, scheduling, and performance evaluations.
  • Develop and enforce nursing policies, procedures, and protocols to ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and standards.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals and administrative leaders to coordinate patient care and improve service delivery.
  • Monitor patient care quality and safety, implementing improvements as necessary to enhance outcomes.
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation and reporting in accordance with HFRD and organizational requirements.
  • Lead initiatives for staff development, continuing education, and adherence to ethical nursing practices.
  • Respond to patient and family concerns, facilitating communication and resolution to maintain satisfaction and trust.
