Systems Administrator

Long Island based Quantitative Hedge Fund seeks an HPC Systems Administrator with Storage experience

This is a permanent direct hire opportunity. The schedule is on-site 5 days a week in Port Jefferson, NY

Compensation is competitive including base + bonus and comprehensive benefits

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, support, and troubleshoot Linux server and desktop infrastructure; document IT infrastructure, policies, and procedures; and perform general user support

Skills, Qualifications, and Experience

• Extensive experience designing, deploying, and supporting Linux servers and desktops
• Experience with HPC Storage tools like VAST Data, NetApp, or something similar
• Thorough understanding of systems and network protocols (DNS, TCP/IP, SMTP, HTTP/HTTPS) and UNIX/Linux system internals (kernel, drivers, file systems, virtual memory)
• Excellent troubleshooting and creative problem-solving abilities
• Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in a technical field

Plus

• Experience deploying and supporting open source and proprietary infrastructure services (DNS, DHCP, LDAP, Radius, NFS, Kerberos, OpenSSL), integrating them into the existing infrastructure, and debugging and patching them
• Experience implementing, operating, and supporting open source tools for system and security monitoring and management on UNIX/Linux platforms
• Knowledge of scripting to automate tasks

Anticipated base 250-350k +/-, + significant bonus potential
