Job Description
The P/C Wastewater Operator – N3 Licensed is responsible for the advanced operation, optimization, and troubleshooting of physical/chemical treatment systems across multiple field locations. This role operates with greater independence and serves as a technical lead in the field, ensuring system performance, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency.
This is a hands-on, field-based role requiring strong expertise in treatment systems, chemical processes, troubleshooting, and system optimization, as well as the ability to support and guide less experienced operators. The role involves managing complex system issues, improving processes, and ensuring consistent compliance with discharge limits and safety standards.
Job Requirements:- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 5+ years of experience in wastewater treatment, environmental services, or industrial process operations.
- N3 License required.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Strong experience operating and optimizing physical/chemical treatment systems.
- Advanced knowledge of process equipment, meters, gauges, and system controls (HMI).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office for reporting and documentation.
- Strong understanding of regulatory compliance, discharge limits, and safety standards.
- Ability to work independently in field environments and support multiple project sites.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to diagnose complex system issues.
- Leadership mindset, capable of guiding and supporting junior operators in the field.
- High attention to detail with a focus on safety and compliance.
- Effective communicator able to coordinate with project managers and field teams.
- Self-directed and adaptable to changing field conditions and operational needs.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work in outdoor and industrial environments.
- Frequent standing, walking, climbing, and performing hands-on work.
- Ability to lift and handle equipment, materials, and chemicals safely.
- Comfortable wearing PPE and working around treatment systems, tanks, pumps, and chemicals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead System Operations: Oversee and optimize P/C treatment systems, ensuring performance, efficiency, and compliance.
- Ensure Safety & Compliance: Conduct job hazard assessments and ensure all systems meet regulatory discharge limits and safety standards.
- Advanced Troubleshooting: Diagnose complex operational issues and implement corrective actions and system improvements.
- Maintenance & Repairs: Perform and oversee maintenance of pumps, valves, piping, and treatment equipment.
- Optimize Chemical Processes: Manage chemical dosing strategies, inventory, and waste handling to improve system efficiency.
- Reporting & Documentation: Maintain detailed operational records, logs, and reports using Microsoft Office and internal systems.
- Sampling & Compliance Testing: Oversee sampling processes, ensure proper Chain of Custody documentation, and coordinate lab submissions.
- Support & Train Team Members: Guide junior operators to ensure proper system operation and adherence to procedures.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve system performance, efficiency, and reliability.
- Communication: Report system performance, issues, and compliance status to management.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
