PeopleFirst Education Staffing is seeking a School Services School Occupational Therapist for a travel job in Montague, California.

The Occupational Therapist works under the immediate supervision of a Program Manager/Principal. The Occupational Therapist provides occupational therapy assessment, consultation to school personnel and/or direct treatment to children from birth to age 22 who qualify for occupational therapy, and works with special education teams in identifying services needed for special education.
\n MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
\n • Graduation from an accredited program in occupational therapy
\n • Currently registered with the National Board Certification in Occupational Therapy (CCR3051.6)
\n • Holds a valid California License for Occupational Therapists
\n PREFFERED QUALIFICATIONS
\n • Experience working with TK-12 students
\n • Experience working with individuals with disabilities
\n ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
\n May include, but not limited to the following:
\n • Evaluate students using standardized and non-standardized tests and observe activities that involve
\n motor tasks, sensory processing and functional skills
\n • Evaluate sensory impairments and perceptual motor skills and make recommendations to staff
\n regarding methods and information to improve functional skills in the classroom
\n • Evaluate abnormal patterns of posture and movement and instructs teachers in positioning and
\n handling techniques for improved function
\n • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary team members in the special education program to identify
\n educational methods, needs and services for students
\n • Assist teachers in developing functional and achievable motor goals in the educational setting for the
\n Individualized Educational Plan (IEP); provides reports for use in IEP committees, attends IEP
\n meetings as required and maintains progress notes on student records
\n • Train classroom staff on body mechanics and lifting safety as it pertains to specific students,
\n equipment, and environments
