Summary of Duties: Under the immediate supervision of a Streetscapes Supervisor or a Foreman perform skilled and semi-skilled work related to maintenance and renovation of community grounds or streetscapes, parks and recreation facilities, pathways, landscape, open space reserves, cul-de-sac’s, lakes, and ponds.
Essential Employee Responsibilities: During emergency conditions, subject to being called to work in the event of a disaster, such as a hurricane, or other emergency situation and are expected to perform emergency service duties, as assigned.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Acts as Crew leader of work teams assigned to various streetscape areas/parks/facilities/grounds maintenance and operational activities. Direct supervision of laborers, providing guidance, mentoring, and assistance in daily work activities.
- Operate and maintain equipment such as lawn mowers, sod cutters, chainsaws, lawn edger, brush/tree trimmers and chippers, air compressors, backhoes, farm tractors, forklifts, and other various hand and job-related power tools.
- Perform concrete, rock and brick work through placement, finishing and modifying, constructing parks and recreation related facilities such as playgrounds, picnic pavilions, fishing docks, bridges, and pathways, and installing landscape.
- Perform weekly preventative maintenance and repairs on all required equipment and facilities.
- General knowledge on installation, maintenance and repairs of park and recreation facilities and amenities such as bridges, pathways, playgrounds, picnic areas, boat docks, fishing piers, fences, gates, fountains, pavilions, pools, pumps, parking lots, sports fields and signs.
- Perform duties in support of development and maintenance of enhanced landscape areas and right of ways e.g., mowing, edging, fertilizing, seeding, pruning trees and shrubs, clearing right-of-way areas with appropriate equipment.
- Enforcement of safety rules, assisting in quality assurance of work activities, and assisting in maintaining effective and efficient work production.
- Gather and dispose of debris, wood, trash, limbs, weeds, grass, trees, shrubs, plants, and dead animals.
- Paint, repair and refurbish fixtures, signs, equipment, and other miscellaneous items as needed.
- Participate in emergency response teams.
- May be required to work special events on nights, weekends or holidays.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Coordinates crew members (approximately 3 or more employees). Carry out crew leader responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include the occasional direction of helpers, assistants, seasonal employees, interns, or temporary employees.
Work performed by those being supervised is semi-complex.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes, or airborne particles, outside weather conditions, extreme heat, and vibration. The employee is frequently exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of electrical shock. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places, extreme cold, and explosives.
