Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced ED RN for a 13-week travel contract at a Level 4 trauma facility in Oregon, working night shifts with MEDITECH charting and required ACLS, BLS, PALS, and TNCC certifications.
Details
- Emergency Department (ED) setting in an acute care hospital with 11 beds/trauma bays
- Level 4 trauma center located adjacent to a major interstate
- Patient volume of approximately 37 patients per day with a 1:3-4 nurse-to-patient ratio
- Direct bed placement model used until full capacity, then quick triage; no dedicated fast track
- ER RNs manage all aspects of patient care including triage, holds, telemetry strip reading, and phlebotomy
- Psychiatric patients assigned to a standard ER room (Room 3) — no separate psych/seclusion area
- In-house RT available 24/7 for vent, CPAP, BiPAP, high flow, and ABG support
- Imaging department located adjacent to the ED
- Charting via MEDITECH
- 12-hour night shifts, 1900–0700
- Every other weekend required, based on unit needs
- Rare on-call or standby requirement
- Floating is not typically required for ED staff
Requirements
- Active OR RN license (state or compact/NLC) required; pending licenses not accepted
- Active certifications required: BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC; pending certifications not accepted
- Minimum 2–3 years of ED nursing experience required
- Must be an independent thinker and self-motivated
- MEDITECH experience preferred
- Valid driver's license required for consideration
- 2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
Additional Information
- Candidates must not have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity Health facility within the past year; candidates employed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered
- Unit orientation consists of 2–3 twelve-hour days
- Holiday coverage is required unless otherwise specified in a signed contract
- Scrub color required: navy blue
- A phone interview with the unit manager is part of the selection process
- Charge nurse responsibilities are shared — the triage RN serves as the charge RN for half of the shift
- Nurse aides, paramedics, and patient sitters are occasionally available for support
