ACE Hardware Cashier

JOB LOCATION: Ace Hardware

REPORTS TO: Assistant Manager

DEPARTMENT: Hardware

FLSA STATUS: This is a full-time position.  FLSA Non-exempt

TYPICAL WORK SCHEDULE (DAYS/HRS PER WEEK): TBD

JOB PURPOSE: To perform Cashier duties for the Pojoaque Ace Hardware and provide quality customer service.  This is a full-time position 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Prepares sales slip or sales contract. 
• Reviews price sheets to note price changes and sales items. 
• Obtains credit authorization on charge purchases. 
• Receives payment or obtains credit authorization. 
• Balances cash received with cash sales. 
• Bags or boxes merchandise for the customer.
• May assist with display and visual presentation of merchandise.
• Stocking:  Stocks shelves, counters, or tables with merchandise.  Stamps, marks, or tags prices on merchandise. 
• Cleans shelves, counters or tables. 
• Assists with the annual inventory.
•          Other duties as assigned

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES):

•          Must be at least 18 years of age or older
•          Good skills in retail sales and merchandising (or the willingness to learn).
•          Good verbal and written communication skills.
•          Ability to handle a variety of customer requests and personalities.  Must be people-oriented, have a good attitude, and be open-minded.
• Skills in handling money and using cash register, calculator, and computer.
• Basic math and reading skills.
• Knowledge of retail hardware, identification and application of power and hand tools, paints and chemicals.

REQUIRED EDUCATION OR COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• High school Diploma or GED
• (6) months retail hardware sales
•          Basic computer skills preferred

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT: 

•          Standing-50% /Walking-50% /Sitting-0%; Store setting.
•          Lifting and carrying up to 75 lbs. With assistance. 
•          Exposure to some cleaning chemicals. 
•          Some exposure to paint and chemical fumes
•          Required to work weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed
