Description

  The Nursery and Interiorscapes Lead will be responsible for the daily supervision of the Nursery, Perennials, and Greenhouse selling spaces, and Interiorscapes business driving sales, service, and productivity levels within all staff members. This role includes a significant focus on growing the Interiorscapes business year over year, managing new accounts, conducting in-person consultations, and overseeing the scheduling and coordination of plant maintenance. Additionally, the Nursery and Interiorscapes Lead will provide in-depth plant knowledge to customers, ensure the health and quality of green goods, and lead the team to achieve exceptional customer service and business growth.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:


Sales and Business Development: 

· Drive results and meet company goals, including sales, customer capture rate, and shrink. 

· Acquire new Interiorscapes accounts, prepare quotes, and create work orders. 

· Research potential new accounts and stay current on industry best practices and trends to grow the Interiorscapes division. 

Customer Experience: 

· Ensure effective resolution of all customer service concerns, partnering with management and peers to develop solutions to recurring issues. 

· Provide exceptional customer service across all departments, focusing on Green Goods, and Interiorscapes. 

· Be a role model for customer service, ensuring staff actively welcome, engage, and assist customers to meet their needs and drive sales. 

· Conduct in-person consultations and act as the primary point of contact for Interiorscapes inquiries, maintenance and off-site consultations. 

Team Leadership and Development: 

· Coach, train, and develop staff in the Green Goods and Interiorscapes departments, providing ongoing feedback, product knowledge, and maintenance guidance. 

· Assist in training Interiorscapes team and Green Goods staff on plant health, scouting, and maintaining high-quality plants in indoor spaces. 

· Promote a positive, inclusive, and respectful work environment. 

Merchandising and Inventory: 

· Create and maintain engaging and inspiring green goods and hard goods displays. 

· Oversee green goods ordering for the garden center, as well as Interiorscapes-specific materials. 

· Collaborate with the receiving and delivery teams to ensure materials are properly treated for pests, organized upon receipt, and coordinated for delivery. 

Plant Health and Maintenance: 

· Assess and maintain green goods, including watering, pruning, pest management, and prevention of damage related to weather and climate factors. 

· Oversee and maintain best practices to ensure the health and quality of green goods material in the department and at offsite installations. 

· Identify pest, watering, and cultural problems for staff and customers, providing recommendations for earth-friendly gardening solutions. 

Collaboration and Communication: 

· Communicate effectively with buying, receiving, and operations teams to ensure seamless information flow and inventory management. 

· Utilize and participate in all company communication tools, including email, Microsoft Teams, and workload calendars. 

Operational Excellence: 

· Maintain a clean, organized, and visually impactful store, focusing on seasonal changeovers and merchandising decisions. 

· Perform MOD duties as scheduled, including opening and closing the garden center, directing staff, and ensuring excellent service throughout. 

· Participate in Cycle Count and Physical Inventory processes to maintain accurate inventory and reduce shrink. 

· Oversee Green Goods receiving, coordinating deliveries with the team, and ensuring any special-order plants are separated from the retail store merchandising space. 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

· 5+ years of sales or customer service experience in a Green Goods or Interiorscapes business. 

· Advanced horticultural knowledge with at least 2 years in the horticultural or Interiorscapes industry; a formal degree is preferred (focus on trees, shrubs, perennials, and indoor plants). 

· Proficiency in identifying nursery plant material, horticultural terminology, plant diseases, and insects, including knowledge specific to indoor plant care and maintenance. 

· Ability to read and interpret scientific and technical information. 

· Supervisory experience managing teams, individuals, or tasks. 

· Strong organizational skills and ability to stay focused in a fast-paced environment. 

· Proficiency in internet searches, email, Microsoft Word, and Excel. 

· Valid driver’s license required. 

· Willingness to work a flexible schedule  

· Ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions. 

· Ability to work 8+ hour shifts on hard surfaces with frequent bending, lifting (up to 50 lbs.), pruning, and overhead work. 

Physical Requirements

Ability to ability to drive to the 5 retail store locations as well as the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
