Laboratory Aide (PT, 50%)-Days

This position is primarily Thursday and Friday 7am-330pm with every other weekend 11am-330pm and rotating holidays. 

• The Laboratory Assistant provides support for the department including ordering, receiving and distribution of laboratory materials. This position has access to confidential financial and patient information. It does not have patient care or access to funds. Specific duties are as follows but not limited to: Lab Assistant - Inventory: Inventory management for assigned departments, Storeroom organization and maintenance, prestine record keeping for ordering information and validation of received materials, development and maintainging an accurate PAR level for inventory; Lab Assistant - Core Laboratory: hourly rounding for specimen retrieval and delivery to approprate departments, Quality Assurance documentation for rejected specimens, manual instrument loading and unloading of specimens, manual storage of specimens off-line, assistance with inventory when necessary; Lab Assistant - Microbiology: Daily specimen set-up, daily instrument maintenance of delegated instrumentation, daily temperature monitoring and bench cleaning, DI water monthly spore checks, CO2 tank replenishing and discarding, waived instrument testing, and TB processing; Lab Assistant - Histo/Path: Accessioning, printing and distributing specimen cassettes, filing slides and cassettes, assisting the Pathologists on procedures, changing tissue processor and stainer fluids, waste disposal, monitoring of morgue temperature and negative pressure. The Histology Lab Assistants will rotate job duties on a weekly basis as assigned.
• Required Educational Degree: High School Diploma or GED
• Preferred Experience: Laboratory experience or materials management experience preferred

• Manages and distributes laboratory inventory to ensure the daily availability of materials for the operation of the department.
• Delivers laboratory materials in a timely and efficient manner to outside agencies. 
• Ensures a safe working environment according to regulatory standards. 
• Professionally manages the reception process including; proper phone etiquette, timely and accurate handling of messages and answering general inquires
• Follows all requirements set by the department policies and CAP regulations.
• Accepts all other duties and responsibilities as appropriate to skill level as assigned
