ACLD is currently looking for a Special Education Itinerant Teacher (SEIT)

The Children’s Services of ACLD provides a continuum of services to children from ages three to five in a  pre-school. We currently have an opportunity for a Special Education Itinerant Teacher (SEIT) to join our Bay Shore facility. A SEIT would provide individualized education services to preschool children ages three to five, various settings across Suffolk and Nassau counties, in including preschools, home, or community locations

Primary Purpose:

The primary goal of Special Education Itinerant Teacher (SEIT) is to provide the necessary special education supports to help the child benefit from participation in a community early childhood program. The SEIT will focus on teaching the child to function within the educational setting independently without SEIT support. 


Requirements

    New York State Certification: Students with Disabilities (Birth to grade 2) or SWD All Grades or Special Education Permanent

    Minimum 1-year experience working with preschool aged children with special needs preferred.

    Must be physically able to handle all aspects of the supervision of the day-to-day activities of preschoolers which may include, but not limited to, running, bending, squatting, sitting on the floor, and kneeling

    Must plan and prioritize work effectively

    Must adhere to strict deadlines for reporting required

    Work 1:1 with children, ages 3-5 years, in community and homebased settings 

    Maintain positive relationships with parents, teachers, related service providers and supervisors

    Evaluate and assessing the student’s needs

    Utilize positive behavior support strategies

    Adapt teaching methods and providing resources to meet the needs of the student

    Follow all mandates on an IEP

    Plan activities/lessons to target the IEP goals/objectives

    Ongoing assessment and documentation of children’s performance, remediation needs, and progress.

    Maintain accurate attendance records for all assigned children

    Work in diverse settings such as student homes, family daycare homes, daycare centers, and/or other community settings.

    Complete and submit sessions notes after each session 

    Complete quarterly progress reports in a timely manner in concert with municipality and SED requirements 

    Complete annual review report(s) in a timely manner in concert with municipality and SED requirements  

    Attend CPSE meeting(s) for student(s) as required 

    Other duties as assigned.

Position is a per diem hourly job.
