The Registered Nurse assesses patient health needs, develops and implements nursing care plans, and maintains medical records under the direction of the Director and Assistant Director of Nursing Services in accordance with the established policies and procedures of the facility, and local, state and federal regulations, to maximize the fulfillment of care-giving needs of the patients.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education – Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing or completion from an accredited institution for Vocational Nursing.
Experience – Minimum of one (1) year experience implementing total patient care and care planning. Minimum of six (6) months experience working in a Long Term Health Care Facility.
Certification – Must have current Registered Nursing license from the state of Tennessee.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Provide patient care through assessments, and evaluation of healthcare plans.
• Recognize and respond to changes in patients’ conditions and document observations, interventions and outcomes.
• Evaluate patient’ condition and care and develop overall care plans for patients, including rehab and restorative activities.
• Review and re-write care plans as directed.
• Ensure proper documentation of patient records.
• Order medications from facility pharmacy.
• Requisition diet orders and supplies.
• Perform emergency procedures such as Cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
• Recognize, intervene and report accidents and incidents when they occur.
• Assist in facilitating the coordination of nursing services with other departments to maintain quality care for patients, and offer equal opportunities for employees.
• Assist in reviewing, monitoring, intervention and documentation of complaints and grievances from patients, families, visitors and employees.
• Assist in making routine rounds and conducting tours with others.
• Monitor the workplace for possible health and safety hazards and assist in developing and conducting routine health, safety and back care training programs to prevent worker injuries.
• Attend and participate in orientation programs, on-going training and educational classes.
• Maintain privacy and confidentiality of records, conditions, and other information relating to patients, employees and the facility.
• Follow the established universal precautions and isolation procedures.
• Encourage an atmosphere of optimism, warmth and interest in patients’ personal and health care needs.
