Greeter- Volunteer Services (Part-Time)

Description:

The hospital Greeter plays a crucial role in creating a welcoming atmosphere for patients and visitors. This position involves providing assistance with directions, answering inquiries, and ensuring a positive first impression of the hospital. If you have a friendly demeanor and excellent communication skills, you are perfect for this role.

Responsibilities:

• Support UPMC's core values: quality & safety, care & compassion, dignity & respect, and community.
• Greet and welcome patients, families, and visitors; assist with directions and information.
• Demonstrate teamwork by collaborating with others and sharing credit and accountability.
• Solve problems through process analysis, communication, and innovative thinking; route concerns to appropriate departments.
• Complete necessary forms and paperwork efficiently.
• Maintain neat and tidy workspaces to enhance customer and guest experience.
• Stay updated on outpatient schedules; provide accurate and timely information.
• Be comfortable with walking, standing, and moving throughout the shift. (includes retrieving wheelchairs, assisting patients who fall in the lobby or outside, escorting patients to the pay machine, and more) This is not a desk-bound position
• Assist with developing and maintaining hospitality services quality dashboards.
• Alert imaging modalities of patient arrivals; validate prescriptions, address delays, review demographics, and collect copays if necessary.

Shifts: This is a Monday-Friday position, but you must have the ability to be on-call for Saturday. The Monday-Fridays shifts are 6am-6pm, and the Saturday shift is 6:30am-1pm. Must be able to open at 6AM and close at 6PM

Qualifications:

• High School graduate or equivalent, associate's degree or some college with focus in business or health care related field preferred 
• Two years of experience dealing with public or customer service.
• Basic experience of Windows software and medical terminology preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills required.
• Must be professional, responsible and self-motivated.
